It's been way too long...

Thanksgiving 2010

Jordan and Colton-2 days old

Hello everyone. It has been quite a while since I've blogged. We have been supper busy with our 2 wonderful baby boys. Seems just like yesterday we brought them home and now they are rolling over and sitting up in their exer-saucer, (which they love.) The boys are now 5 months and 11 days old. I can't believe how fast time is flying. To fill everyone in, I started back to work Nov 1, 2010 and am working part-time, which gives me time to be home with the boys, which I LOVE spending as much time with them as I can. We made it through Thanksgiving, having it here at our home. The boys enjoyed their time with their family that day, were quite the studs wearing their flannels! LoL...

Christmas creeped up too soon! Christmas was quite an adventure for the boys, seeing a lot of people, as we went to the big Snitker family Christmas at Great Aunt Uncle's- Beth and Randy's, where the boys were introduced to many cousins. We then had Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve, in which the boys got to play with their cousin Sara. Then on Christmas we went to Grandpa and Grandma Snitker's where the boys finally got to meet their cousin Renae, who is close to size to the boys for being 3 months younger! Cousin Gracelynn also got her cousin Jordan and Colton fix, by going over and giving them plenty of hugs- the boys didn't know what to think, but it was the cutest thing- The boys also were visited by Auntie Betsy and Auntie Shannon, which this was the first time that Betsy had met the boys as she and her husband Lucas moved to Florida about 11 days before the boys were born. We got a wonderful gift from her- the start of the boys' scrapbooks, which I have yet to add to (go figure, right.) The boys also got some cute clothes from many family members, which I'm hoping to get pictures of the boys in them and send them out to you all, but it may take me a while! Then the New Year came, which Ryan and I spent at home with the boys and we were in bed by 9:30 p.m., boy we're getting old. Last Thursday I celebrated my 25th birthday, which was pretty uneventful besides the fact that we went to La Crosse to order counter top to go in out entry room and my brother Parker got his orders for active duty. On Friday the 14th, there was a going away ceremony held for the 322nd Engineer Company out of Decorah! It was great to see all the support from the families, friends, and community of the soldiers. On Saturday we took Parker out to Happy Joe's to have some going away pizza and to celebrate Parker's 20th birthday early since he will be over seas during the time of his birthday. On Sunday, Parker and the rest of the 322nd Engineer Company rolled out of the reserve unit in Decorah! It was a proud but bittersweet moment. I am very proud of my little brother, as he is only 19 and is going to fight for our country and our freedom, Thank you little brother-we love you very much! As for this week, not much has been going on besides mommy trying to get in to a healthy routine of exercising and eating healthier! I haven't been gaining so I guess that's a plus! The reason for my wanting to lose the weight, is so I can be healthy to be able to run after my boys when they start going in opposite direction, which I'm hoping isn't until next fall, (yeah right.) As for now, that's all I have, but I wanted to update everyone on what's been going on. Hopefully I'll remember to blog at least weekly! Take care and God Bless ~The Snitkers~

I FOUND THIS IN MY DRAFTS.....HMMMMM

It's A New Day!

Hello Everyone! Really wishing I would have kept up on this blogging thing! As you can tell, I haven't blogged since the boys were born! I had tried one time afterwards but something happened and I just gave up after that!

As I go through and see how things are on facebook, I enjoy being able to share with the joys of our children, Jordan and Colton, who are going to be 3 in 4 very short days, and Sydney Joy who is now 15 1/2 months.

A lot has happened in our household since the boys arrived, not only did we have another child, but I am a stay at home mom to the kids, we have lots of buildings, silos, and other misc. taken down throughout the farm, and we have remodeled our upstairs!

We have also welcomed many more family members, Renae, age 2 1/2, and Blake age 15months (Andrew and Alex's 2 children,) as well as Clayton, age 2, in 5 very short days, as well as Lillian, 7momths, who joined big sister Gracelynn, age 3 1/2, all 3 children of Stephanie and Heath.

So as you can tell, things have been very busy! I'm hoping to get on here weekly so I can keep people updated with some things that I may not post on Facebook! :)

Welcome Jordan Adam and Colton Ryan

Hello to the outside world. It has been quite a while since I have posted last. As you all know by know, Ryan and I welcomed our twin boys into the world on August 10, 2010. I'm going to start at the beginning.... That Monday, August 9, I hit 36 weeks which is quite a HUGE milestone with multiples, as most don't hit the 36th week, although some do and some exceed. Ryan and his dad had been working on the spare room to get that finished up so we could move back upstairs as soon as possible after the boys arrived. Before lunch, Ryan had been sawing away at the top of the door that leads to the upstairs, with his reciprocating saw, as the door would not shut properly. As Ryan was eating lunch, I was leaving our kitchen, heading into the dining room area to go into the restroom. I was stopped dead in my tracks and my right foot started to throb. I looked down and there is a reciprocating saw blade in my foot, (happened to be about 1/2 inch.) I immediately yelled at Ryan saying, "you shouldn't leave your stuff laying around." Ryan rushed me to the emergency room where Dr. Schwartz was on call. Let me remind you, this is at about 1 p.m. Dr Schwartz admitted that he would rather be seeing me for the pregnancy instead of the blade in my foot. Got a shot of novicane to numb my foot, as well as some x-rays to ensure that the blade hadn't gone into the bone. Since my feet were swollen, the blade had NOT gone into the bone. Thank heavens!!!! Got the blade out and went home! We were able to joke about it afterwards stating, "maybe this would put me into labor." Not quite sure if it did or not, but my water broke at 6:15 a.m. the next morning. As I called up to Labor and Delivery in La Crosse to inform them we were on our way, I yelled at Ryan to get up. He came out of the bedroom asking, "what is it?" I looked at him with a smile, "my water broke, it's time." As Ryan and I got ready, we never would have expected what was about to happen! Ryan and I made our 1 hour and 20 minute trip to La Crosse and were greeted with lots of smiles when we arrived at the hospital. Dr Simmon was the doctor on call. They did all the protocall stuff, by making sure that my water actually broke, getting me hooked up to the monitors-which the boys didn't like to keep on, as they kicked and punched. Dr Simmon tried to get an ultrasound done, but she admitted that she wasn't very good at them and would see if Dr Peck would help, as he was doing rounds in Post Pardum. Dr. Peck came in 20 minutes later and stated that Baby A was head down, face up, and Baby B was on the total opposite side of where he was before, feet down. Dr. Simmon informed Ryan and I that it would more than likely be a long labor with Baby A face up and was not going to guarentee that Baby B would flip, and would have to deliver him C-section. She said that more than 50% of the time this is the case and would give us some time to decide as she had another c-section to perform. Ryan and I contemplated about this for a good 2 hours. I made phone calls to people who had c-sections to see how it was, as I really didn't want to deliver both ways, but I also didn't want to have a c-section. After much discussion, Ryan and I chose the c-section and I was wheeled into the operating room at noon. Ryan was in the operating room with me at 12:30 p.m. and we got to meet Jordan Adam at 12:41 p.m. weighing in at 6lbs 1/2 oz and 19 inches long and Colton Ryan, 6lbs 5.3 oz and 19.2 inches long at 12:43 p.m. We didn't name the boys until about 10:00 p.m. after all our family had left, so we had a chance to see what name fit who!

~Colton Ryan and Jordan Adam~
Ryan did very well with stepping up to the plate and becoming a hands on dad right away. I couldn't do a whole lot with the c-section, as I could barely get out of bed and walk, but that is what I had to do. The boys and I got out of the hospital that Friday and brought our bundles of joy home!!! Since then, we have been very busy parents with changing diapers, feeding, and me pumping, but we are loving every moment of it! We have had plenty of support from our family, as Aunt Christi came up this past weekend to stay over Friday and Saturday so we could get some extra shut eye and the past couple of nights, my mom has stayed, as Ryan's been out hauling and had to milk this morning. The boys have been quite a handful-but to be expected with twins and I'm loving every minute of being a mommy!!!! The boys had a check up on Monday and Jordan is up to 6lbs 60z and Colton is up to 6lbs 9oz so they are getting closer in weight. A lot of people ask me how to tell them apart! I tell people their quirks and differences, such as Colton's stork bite on his right eye lid, as well as crud on it from a clogged tear duct, but we're working on that! Colton also has chubbier cheeks than Jordan and Jordan's the fussier one! When Jordan's hungry he wants his food now, not in 2 minutes, as he doesn't give a little fuss that he's hungry, he just lets out the loudest cry!!! Well it's feeding time so I better get going! Gotta love my boys! Will try to update more later!!!!! :) *hugz and love to all*

35 Week Appointment

35 weeks

Hello again! Yesterday Ryan and I went up for my 35 week appointment! Dr. Peck was happy that I have made it this far and still holds to his August 9th prediction as he stated he doesn't foresee me delivering anytime this week! My blood pressure was good, babies heartbeats sounded good, Dr. Peck said that he was happy with their growth and that they were getting adequate nutrition. My stomach/uterus measured at 49, so I only have 5 to go to meet the record for twins, but Ryan's really hoping that I go before then! I think he's getting anxious to meet these little guys as much as I am! That and he probably would rather wake up to them crying, instead of me getting up to use the bathroom! My swelling has gone up severely but there was no protein in my urine that would indicate toxemia or pre-eclampsia, so that was good news, but he decided to put me on a medication to help with the fluid retention! Got a red flag when I went to pick up the medication as it was brought to the pharmacists attention about how I'm allergic to sulfa and that I could have a reaction to this medication due to that, but they called Dr. Peck and he reassured that he was fine with me taking it. At least I'm aware and know what to look out for if I do have a reaction, which I'm praying that I don't because I don't want it to affect the boys! Ryan is sticking to his names that he has for the boys! I guess we'll just have to wait and see until they decide to come out!!! I really would like to be up and around cleaning but with how much weight I am carrying in the front, I can't do a whole lot of anything without my back hurting, which includes, just getting up to get something to eat, drink, or just to use the restroom! Maybe that's a sign that I'm in the nesting stage, as I did have Mom and Perry come out to help do some cleaning on Monday! Makes me feel better that the house looks cleaner than before they came out! Ryan and Larry got the floor put in the spare room on Monday and are hoping to get the ceiling in today, so Ryan and I picked up a ceiling fan for that room yesterday!!! Which means our bedroom will be ready to clean, YAAAHHHHH!!! I can't wait to go back to our bedroom. Well I think that is all for now, I'm going to grab a popsicle and see if there is anything good on tv! Have a wonderful day and God Bless!!!

34 week Appointment

Hello again! Today we went up to La Crosse for our 34 week appointment for the boys! They had a growth ultrasound, which measured them at about 6 pounds a piece, but the ultrasound tech said that they can be off by a pound usually lower then what they are measured at! Ryan and I still believe that they are above 5 1/2 pounds for sure since it's been 4 weeks since the last ultrasound and they grew 2 pounds in 5 weeks from the ultrasound before that! Baby A is still head down and Baby B is more feet down (he's in a transverse position and his head is over baby A's feet, so things have tipped a bit, but still looking good!) We met with Dr. Alvarado instead of Dr Peck! She was very open about everything and seemed to be more willing to answer questions instead of Dr. Peck since she has 5 kids of her own and is an OB doctor! Dr Alvarado wasn't worried about delivery, she explained that since Baby A is head down, that it is a go for natural delivery and that Baby B usually flips into head down position, but would be okay if he was feet down too, as they would just pull him out that way! (ouch I know-but she said it's been done before and is fine.) Ryan and I got to tour the labor and delivery area, and got to see the nurses station of the post-pardum area which is where you go 2 hours after delivery! My back has been killing me, but not a sign of labor yet and no contractions either!!! We go back on Tuesday morning to see Dr. Peck again. That is all for now!

New Vehicle

We forgot to update you on our new vehicle! Yes this means I'm going to be a "Soccer Mom"

This is our "new to us" 2006 Pontiac Montana

For those of you who didn't know, Ryan and I had our car seat check on July 9th, and we found out that we were unable to fit in the front seats with the carseats in. Ryan was hugging his legs along with the stirring wheel-so yes, it was an accident waiting to happen. We purchased our van last Wednesday on the 14th from Cresco Motor Company. We put the carseats in the van and it's much better. There is so much more room in this van and we are able to fit what we need in here. Only thing we have to be aware about is the next time we are pregnant, if it's twins again we may be in trouble, as they recommend only putting 1 carseat (rear or front facing) in the back seat, so who knows, we may have to upgrade again, but One day at a time for now. So if you know anyone that is in look for a SUV with 4 wheel drive-we are selling our 2003 Ford Escape. You will have to ask Ryan what we are asking ,as he is in charge of that. Again we are getting SUPER anxious to meet our little guys. Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

33 Week Appointment and Update

Yesterday we had our 33 week appointment! Dr Peck tried to check my cervix but was unable to and said that means I'm not dialated ,but doesn't mean it can't change whenever or for whatever reason! Wondering if I may hit the 54 mark to meet the twin record, as I got measured at 45. Dr Peck also still thinks that I may go on my own before 38 weeks but we'll wait and see, as if they don't come out by the 23rd of August then they will induce me. As far as we know, the boys are both still head down! We have our ultrasound next Wednesday and then meet with Dr. Alvarado because Dr Peck is off all next week. Ryan and I are getting super excited and can't wait to meet our precious little guys! After our appointment we went to Home Depot! I drove one of the electric wheel chairs as Ryan walked and we picked out paint for the spare room and got our paint for the bean bag toss boards. Ryan got the spare room painted today so then he can get the floor put in soon and then we can get our bedroom cleaned so when we are able to, we can move back into our room and in our bed!!! I'm really missing our bed! The spare bed for some reason is just not cutting it! Ryan also spent some time making boards for our bean bag toss game-which I've wanted one for a LONG time. He is making them in our favorite college teams Texas and Iowa! I've been staying busy by going through boxes of papers and items, as well as keeping the boys nice and comfy in their home. LoL!!! I have also gone through some old papers that Grandma Jean gave me of the "Baby Section" of the old Waukon Standards and have found some VERY interesting pictures of family, friends, and classmates. But other than that-Yes I'm getting bored and wouldn't mind any visistors-just give me a call with a 20 minute notice!!! LoL! That's all for now! Going to watch Law and Order SVU!!! Take care and God Bless!!!!
